In winter the question stops being “can I cool the flat down” and becomes “how long should the windows stay wide open”. The app switches with it.
Your own sensors
Readings come from the Apple Home sensors you already own. Outdoor temperature can come from a sensor too, or from the forecast.

Everything is scheduled locally on the device. No push, no server, nothing about your home leaving the house.
